PWHL’s Marie-Philip Poulin named to Ordre national du Québec

6/20/2024

Yesterday Marie-Philip Poulin, the captain of Montreal’s PWHL team, was one of 28 citizens named to the Ordre national du Québec. According to a report on the Montreal Gazette site, the order, which was created in 1984, honors those who “have contributed, in their own way, to shaping Quebec”. The honor was presented by Quebec premier François Legault @ the National Assembly in Quebec City. Legault happily listed some of Poulin’s most noteworthy achievements saying of the sports star, “You are the captain of the Montreal team & you are an exceptional ambassador for the sport. There are those who say that you are the Sidney Crosby of women’s hockey”.

This season Poulin (32) not only made headlines for her plays on the ice but also for her engagement to fellow PWHL Montreal teammate Laura Stacey. The couple live in Montreal with their dog Arlo.

Poulin, who was born in Beauceville, Quebec, has won 3 Olympic gold medals as well as being a 4 time World champion as part of Canada’s national women’s hockey team.
